The Croft and The Joiners Saved for future generations

6 Nov 2025
We’re thrilled to share that both The Joiners in Southampton and The Croft in Bristol have now been purchased and brought into community ownership.
These two iconic grassroots music venues are now safe, secure, and part of the growing Music Venue Properties family.
These venues were among the very first to join our potential new pipeline after the first share offer, with the venues getting in touch well before we had even started to plan this campaign. The threats they were facing meant we had to act fast. Their cultural importance, both regionally and nationally, alongside the threat of sale, made them absolutely essential to protect and by securing them now we also hope to be able to raise further funds to help improve and preserve them both. We’re also proud to say this purchase was made possible with vital support from Arts Council England, who continue to back the power of community investment and recognise the importance of grassroots music venues.
From hosting early shows by Oasis, Coldplay, Ed Sheeran, PJ Harvey, and Arctic Monkeys, to being key stops on the UK’s touring circuit today, these are historic spaces and they are now secured for generations of artists and audiences to come.
This brings us to 7 venues across the UK that have been secured for the future through community ownership under the care of Music Venue Properties. As we come to the end of this years Own Our Venues campaign we hope that this will help us encourage further investment and support in our movement.
